The right to additional paternity leave is now available to parents of babies due on or after 3 April 2011, and to adoptive parents notified of their match for adoption on or after that date.

Workplace hearing tests

The new Noise at Work Regulations 2005 came into force on 6 April 2006.

The object of the Regulations is to protect employees from noise.  They require employers to:

Assess the risks from noise
Take action to reduce noise exposure
Provide hearing protection from those employees concerned
Make sure legal limits are not exceeded
Provide information to employees
Carry out hearing surveillance for staff where there is a risk to health
