The Government has published the National Minimum Wage Regulations 1999 (Amendment) Regulations 2010.
From 1 October this year, the rate of the National Minimum Wage will increase from £5.80 per hour to £5.93 and the age from which the principal rate becomes payable will fall from 22 to 21.
The rate for workers between the ages of 18 and 20 will rise from £4.83 to £4.92 and the rate for workers below the age of 18 will rise from £3.57 to £3.64.
The Regulations also provide a minimum rate for apprentices who are employed under a contract of apprenticeship, which is set at the rate of £2.50 per hour.
