A BA employee who was not allowed to wear a crucifix at work has lost her appeal in her claim of religious discrimination.
Nadia Eweida worked on the check-in desks for BA and was sent home from work in 2006 after refusing to remove the cross from around her neck, as it breached the airline’s dress policy.
Eweida brought a claim for religious discrimination, which was rejected by the Tribunal at first instance and then by the Employment Appeal Tribunal.
Eweida appealed to the Court of Appeal who rejected her appeal, confirming the EAT’s decision that BA’s Policy was justified.
